Luján de Cujo is a prestigious department of Central Mendoza, why?

  • The first DOC of Argentina, also a GI Luján de Cuyo.
  • South-west of the city of Mendoza, where the Mendoza River valley emerges from the Andes foothills, this is the higher half of the Primera Zona with vineyards situated between 900 and 1,100 metres above sea level.
  • Over 50% is planted with Malbec and is particularly famous for its old Malbec vines.
  • Within GI LdC:

    • Highest vineyards making fruity full bodied wines, elegant whites of Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc
    • Lower on clay soil vineyards make riper red wines, fruity full bodied Sémillon.
