  2. DOC Verdicchio di Matelica
    • Higher zone in the foothills of the Apennines
    • Protected by mountains from the sea; continental climate

    • Sandstone with fossils (less clay)
    • Lower yields
    • Fuller bodied, higher acidity, less fruity
    • Riserva DOCG: min 18 months ageing, 12.5% abv min.
